-
The initial evaluation is a comprehensive appointment focused on understanding what brings you to care and what kind of treatment may be most appropriate.
This appointment may include discussion of:
Current symptoms
Mental health history
Medical history
Medication history
Sleep, appetite, energy, and concentration
Stressors and life transitions
Substance use history
Family history
Safety concerns
Treatment goals
At the end of the evaluation, you will receive clinical impressions and treatment recommendations. Medication may be discussed when appropriate, but treatment decisions are made collaboratively.
-
Medication can be helpful, but it should be prescribed with care.
Follow-up appointments focus on monitoring symptoms, response to medication, side effects, progress toward goals, and any needed adjustments. Education is an important part of treatment, so you understand why a medication is being considered and what to watch for.
Medication management may be appropriate for concerns such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, attention concerns, sleep difficulties, and other psychiatric conditions.
-
While Kairos Psychiatry is not structured as a traditional weekly psychotherapy practice, appointments may include supportive and practical therapeutic conversation.
This may include exploring patterns, stressors, coping strategies, lifestyle factors, relationships, emotional regulation, and barriers to progress.
The goal is to make treatment more meaningful than simply reviewing symptoms and refilling medications.
-
Secure virtual appointments may be available for patients located in Texas, when clinically appropriate.
Some clinical situations may require in-person care, additional assessment, or referral to a higher level of care.
-
Medications with controlled substance status are prescribed only when clinically appropriate and legally permitted. They are not guaranteed and require a careful evaluation, appropriate documentation, ongoing monitoring, and adherence to practice policies.
Kairos Psychiatry does not provide controlled medications solely by request or without a full clinical assessment.
-
Kairos Psychiatry may not be the right fit for individuals who need emergency psychiatric care, active detoxification, intensive outpatient treatment, inpatient hospitalization, or immediate crisis intervention.
If you are experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
